Galvanised bodies?

Am I mistaken or do these cars have galvanising under the paint? Yesterday I took off the rocker panel trim and damaged some paint. Underneath I'm 99% certain the metal is galvanised. Anyone know when galvanised bodies in mercedes came around? I did a paint repair with POR15.

As far as I knew MB surprisingly were one of the last to galvanise.

Wren't the W116 chassis dipped in a pool of primer that was electrostatically applied?  I'm pretty certain the W116 wasn't galvanized.

Correct, they were dip-primed.  The 126 was the first MB chassis to use some galvanised pre-treatment.
