Front Bucket Seats?

I am having the interior re-done on the inside of my '79 Mercedes 300SD.

I am not particularly fond of the original front seats design or comfort level and would like to upgrade/replace the front seats to fabric and a different style seat all together.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of different bucket seats to fit in this that doesn't require a lot of changing/adding stuff to the base to change it?

Is there a specific seat and "kit" I can buy to make a different seat conversion easy?

Any suggestions would be great. I have never swapped seats out before.

Thanks,
300SDude (Donnie)

PS: If you want pictures of the seats, email me and I'll send them.

Nice to see another Washingtonian 300SD owner! The base of the seats attach to the slider rails with 6 bolts, so I imagine the donor seats could have the holes drilled and then the rails from the original seats attached.

I am on the lookout for some tan (bamboo) vinyl seat skins and possibly a rust-free back seat frame, so keep me in mind if you have these parts and decide to go with something different.

hi SquiggleDog, i ended up having my rear seat frame acid dipped and repowder coated before having the interiors shop rebolster the seats and they going to reapply the MBTex also. its a nice result on the frame to be sure ...

That sounds good. I have a line on a back seat frame that is apparently in good condition. The one currently in my car has nail holes from them using roofing nails to attach the new vinyl. The springs are also very rusted.
