Indeed,

These are probably just parts cars though, and I may not end up with them.

But then again, you never know. 8)

Hey Tim, where do you find all these car/projects.  Do you find them locally through private sales or through a wholesaler.  In my neck of the woods 116s are few and far between and ones for parting even rarer.  There is a 280 here locally ATM but it has been sitting there for over 12 mths for good reason.

I've just found them for sale privately, or in one case through Nathan (the blue 280SE).

There are a few 116s available at the moment in Perth, I thought they were drying up but I was wrong. Have a look on Gumtree and you'll see what I mean.

I'll say that the cars I'm looking at aren't 116s, but I'll divulge the rest of the information at a later stage. ;)

Alrighty,

The truth is out.

I've canned the restoration of this chassis, as it is too far gone, and too much hassle.

I purchased a South Afrikan 4-Speed manual 280S today that is in very sound shape, and doesn't have a sunroof either. I'll run it with the carby for a while and consider swapping the engine from the 280SE in the future... It even has a service history until quite recently and had a replacement engine fitted in the late '90s.

What a relief!

I'll post some pics later.

Tim
Hi Tim!

If you say "South African" - did you import it?

TJ 450

I didn't import it personally, but there are quite a few South African cars that were imported by their owners into Australia when the cars were still worth quite a bit of money.

Pretty much all Mercedes.

Nah, Im out in the bush.

I did have a South Afrikaan's delivered Chrysler for a while but most of them were built here and shipped over in the 60's and 70's along with Fords and Holdens.

A LOT of SA built Toyota Corolla's and Yaris's here though.... New ones!

Whoops I misread your Question...

No South Afrikaanse near me, a handfull of Ex Rhodesians and plenty of Somali's.........
