Drivers seat base mechanism

Hi
In my ongoing quest to reinforce the seats on my 280se, I am tackling the drivers side (passenger side is simpler and worked fine).
All done, except putting back the seat and bolting it to the base?
I think one of the rollers/runners has become locked up, and I cannot push the base back enough to attach the front
nut to the floor. It seems I can only push back one side, so it becomes twisted?? Very odd, as I removed it kind of alright??
I am currently soaking the offending side in WD40 penetrating oil and hope that does the trick overnight.

But any tips/suggestions from anyone with similar difficulties would be appreciated. Im not totally convinced
that my 'fix' will be sufficient?

Cheers Howard

...OK, I have just fixed the seats in. From some third party advice I used a Philips screwdriver to locate the front left nut (UK drivers side)
having loosely fitted the rear nuts. I then added the front right nut (loosely) and finally the fourth. Due to the spring attached under the mechanism
you have to use your whole body weight to align the hole with the thread, but once in and loosely tightened, I checked everything lined up and both
directional adjusters worked. Then a final all round tightening. Its only taken me two days, but I hope this helps anyone else with less time on their hands!

I will not be doing this job again!

I usually attach the spring after the seat is mounted, this way you don't have to work against it. Using a plier and screwdriver I'm possible to attach the spring.

Yes that bottom spring is "fun" to get back in :o

I use a length of coat hanger wire to grab the spring and pull forward to get back on.
