This may be frowned upon here, however i am thinking of installing a double din head unit in this vehicle 1980 300sd. I am thinking of possibly moving the hvac controls down and possibly eliminating the ashtray. I may install power ports in the shifter area.
Has anyone here done such a thing? Mainly does anyone have any pictures of similar installs?

Ok the thread in benzworld has inspired me. I may actually end up buying some zebrano inlay and just design and mill a whole new faceplate. Anyone know off the top of their head if the automatic climate control has enough give to sit in the bottom?
As for butchering the rare part. I can't bring myself to do that. I won't even butcher the cracked inlay that is stock.
Did you look at single DIN with the slide out/up screens?
