Do you have holes in your floor ?

A new post for a new week. Can you help me ?

I took up the carpets in the back of the 450SEL to clean them and noticed that I could see the road underneath the car through a hole the size of a penny in the floor. I checked on the other side (i.e. behind both front seats) and that had a hole too. Its not rust; someone has deliberately created these holes. Anyone else got them and might know what they're there for ?

Thanks,

James

Thanks a lot, Styria. I'll go and see if I can find some.

I would think at some time the car has leaked water and the Rubber Grommets have been removed to let it drain out.

Ditto,

I have them too.

James, you should also see these holes under the carpets in the boot/trunk behind each rear wheel.  Have a look there to see if those grommets are still intact.  There may also be one under the spare wheel but I can't remember.  These all may be the same size as those in the rear footwells.  If they are intact you'll be able to see what you need.
