Title: Do W126 rocker swiches fit in W116?
Post by: raueda1 on 03 May 2020, 09:18 AM
I refer to the rocker switches on the console for antenna, sunroof, rear window heater etc.  The icons are bit different but dimensions look the same.  Anybody know if they are physically interchangeable?  Thanks,

No, they are not.  The W126 switches install from the rear of the wood panels, and the W116 switches (both early and late versions) install from the front of the wood and actually "sit" in the wood.  The W126 switches would likely work if the plugs mated up, but they wouldn't sit in the hole they're supposed to sit in.

Seek out switches from R107 cars of the same era.

Early W123 switches may fit, but the icons/decalcomania will be positioned 90 degrees from where they should be.  That's not to say that one couldn't swap the rocker parts of the switches out in order to make the icons face correctly.
