For those of you needing to clean up outside of their motor and gearbox, try using BP vanellius degreaser it the best I have used so far.The motor cleans really easily and also leaves the aluminium with a lovely clean I'm not very old look.
7mercs...how much is this stuff? there are some nice can products out there which are simpler than hooking up to the high pressure hose...problem is that the can stuff can cost upt o 6-7 bucks each...so i just buy 6 cans of the red and black one (you know which one i mean people!) for 2 bucks each...cheaper and bulk power!
We use a product called "Alkasteam" at my new workshop - you don't even need to agitate this stuff once it goes on - you just hose it off and it too gives alloy that new appearance. Grease, dirt, tar spots, bird plops, nothing is too much for this stuff!
I once washed a car with this stuff in the water - it turned the dull paint into a gleaming a bright shine... no word of a lie!
Even heavily dusted mag wheels... just spray it on and leave it for a few then hose off! If any of you have owned a car with Hotwire mag wheels then this stuff is heaven sent...
I do however feel that if not washed off within a few minutes it will EAT JUST ABOUT ANYTHING!
I spilt some one the floor last week - grey paint sealed concrete floor - now there is a big purple patch!

Yeah - this shit is bad - it's also good for getting rid of those pesky nostril hairs - just a quick sniff and they are gone!
We have a 44 gallon drum in our supplies but I'm sure there would be many questions asked if I sent a little bottle of it to you! I will see where we get it from and let y'all know.

I'm a bit against the use of degreasers, especially the strong ones as they can damage gaskets etc, and high pressure jets are a big no-no. I prefer the diesel and paintbrush technique then a steady stream of water to wash awauy the gunk.
