Convert Your W116 Into A Wagon With A Granada!
« on: 11 October 2020, 01:35 PM »
Apparently it can be done! I wonder if this is what Crayford actually did? I'd probably rather use W123 wagon parts, though.

From what I've read, that's exactly what Crayford did. Or at least the load area windows were from some Ford. Could have been a Granada.

Ha! Even before I found those links I posted, I heard that the windows were from a Granada wagon. Very interesting. I wouldn't mind turning my 300SD into a wagon at some point, but I think I'd rather have a W123 rear door, taillights, and side windows.

Looks like a West Coast Customs type of rape. Not my cup of tea.
Nonetheless, the result got something to it.
But I'd prefer the Granada, or even more the Granada I waggon. Those are rare birds.
Are they known overseas?

Crayford is apparently not the only company to have converted a W116.
Results all look similar to my eye but differ in details, predominantly the rear part:

This one is one of three built by body shop Brinkmann, other sources claim that it is one of two built by Pollmann:

This one is labelled as well as Crayford but the attachment of the C-column is different from others from Crayford:

The topic was dealt with before on this Forum.

Wow! The C-pillar treatment on the last example is clever. I don't think we got those Granada wagons in North America, so even acquiring one of those would be a challenge.
