I need some help from your vast knowledge plz... my 74 450 SEL was missing one of the climate control temperature levers (outer left) and I was pleased to find and get one and a backup on eBay just to be let down when I went to put it in and realized that the metal lever down deep in the housing has something missing on its tip that will allow the plastic lever to attach to it!!?I'm truly stumped. Cant find diagrams or any clue as to what this is called and any source to get them. Gerald :-\

there is a little metal clip riveted on the end of the metal arm that holds the lever on.

Hi Rumb and thank you!!! Fortunately I have the armatures intact. I'll better explain what I've got missing better (I'm not conveying it well enough). I was missing the actual plastic finish piece and as I'm trying to install the one I got it looks as if the metal arm it attaches to does not receive this piece directly!? Looking at the assembly in the other side where its all there I'm seeing like a middle plastic piece that I've got to source that sits on the tip of the metal armature that receives this finished piece.

The item arrowed to is what was missing. Apologies for the exploded views.

I think you got the wrong levers, they should look like this. I looked around but cant find my spares.  these levers just push into the slot on the end of the lever arm, that you can clearly see in the picture I posted previously. (i deleted the others as they were distracting to what I wanted to point out)

In a pinch I screen captured a general pic for the lever and the climate control from google images here at work so Not my actual pics and should have clarified. Apologies for that. My plastic pieces look exactly like what you've referenced so I'll go back and try it again.

I've got a sinking feeling that the top end of the metal lever is broken off... mine is blunt and now that I have your pic figured out I see the end where it should snap in. Man I hope it's not but we'll see.

It should be easy enough to get a used lever if you need one.

I still think you have the incorrect plastic lever.  You have one from a R107. The fleabay listing was incorrect. Just grab and pull a different one out of your car and look. (grab and pull straight out)

If you do need the metal lever - the one behind the panel, drop me a PM.

Got a good shot of the problem lever. Anyone make heads or tails of it?
