Hi all,

What does everyone use to keep all the chrome looking shiny and clean on their cars? My chrome is starting to get water stained and I'd like to return them to like new if possible.

Thanks,

Hello Mforcer

Usually I use Meguiars Quik Detailer, that does the job. Or I just use a damp cloth then a dry one to clear it up. Either of these should work.

I was also wondering about the same thing. I have tried the damp cloth. I have tried Windex and other cleaners. I think my bumpers are in need of something a little more tough. Coca Cola has been suggested but I am not too sure on that one.

When I have the time I'll be getting some specialised metal cleaner/polish that will hopefully do the trick.

I'll report back as to what I find.

I checked out the local K-mart to see what was available in the automotive section and found Eagle One Nevr-Dull. It worked as described.

I just wasn't sure how long to leave it on before rubbing off. I ended up rubbing it off almost immediatly. It was so effortless and simple to use I wish I had more chrome to clean.

My chrome is shiny again! :)

I use Autosol which comes in a tube. It's a white cream which feels gritty between the fingers but has a very fine consistency as opposed to some cheaper products that feel coarser.

When rubbed into the chrome the cream turns black depending on how deteriorated the chrome is. Then a dry cloth is used to buff and remove then the chrome looks like new.

I do have a question re these abrasive types of polish.  I can't notice any surface scratching or marks left by the product, but if anyone out there has used similar or has knowledge of what this type of product does, I wonder do they remove a layer of chrome which would eventually be removed thus revealing the base metal?  Should these polishes be only used rarely with a liquid polish used in between?
