Lower Chrome sill rubber/pad 450SE
« on: 20 April 2019, 12:02 AM »
All, I'm in the process of putting my 450SE back together after a re-spray, but have found that both sides of the rubber underlay for the lower chrome sill has shrunk and both need replacing.

I've tried to source from MB, but they have communicated part is now NLA. Does anyone know how I can source replacement rubber underlay for a short wheel base W116?

The one's for SEL are available, could probably be fitted with trimming.

But why not search the internet for these parts? If the dealer doesn't have it, there's 200 countries out there with internet. I also bought these rubbers recently and it took me about 8 minutes to both left and right, one in Greece, and the other in  ebay France, both listed under their known part numbers. Think it was less than 100usd to my door step, together, all costs inclusive.
If you can t find things when typing A2222222222, try A222-222-22-22, try 222-222-22-22, "Mercedes 222 222 22 22", or 2222222222. Last one is "mercedes 22222 22 22", which is often used by the largest NOS sellers in Germany, VDH and Wenner.

Don't use ebay.com as your go-to. It only covers the USA, Canada and some hits in the UK, not great territories for NOS. Try ebay.de, ebay.co.uk, ebay.com.au, and ebay.fr as well. Make sure that each time you go to your ebay settings and change your goods-reception address to the country where you are looking. Many sellers simply don't consider exporting, so they limit their settings. Once listed, and unsold, many of them will quickly change their ways after contact and export, to get paid.
But, you gotta find them first, and that s how you do that. Just don't forget to also change back to your actual address, once you've clicked "buy now", or you risk shipping to the wrong address.
Shipping fees listed can always be changed and discussed with the seller, new invoices issued.

You can also change your google to google.de, google.fr, etc.etc for your searches. Doesn't always make a big diff, but with NOS, you need to try every cavity.

In the meantime, I have asked Wenner in Germany to look for a pair of good used ones, since they no longer have the NOS ones listed. See how that goes, if you'd choose to.
Good luck!
