I bought a set from carshine in OZ; the rears look to fit OK but the fronts I think will require the front bumper to come off first...is that what others who have fitted them have discovered?
sigh....sitting back contemplating the next purchase..!

nathan

they shouldnt need to come off chris, but did you have them altered when you had the new tyres fitted? maybe thats why they dont fit...
as a side note, has any one taken off the front qtr panels themselves???when dad had one of the 123s resprayed i thought id lend a hand and strip off the rusty front qtrs...those frikkin things were glued ? on unde rthe bolts and wouldnt budge..left them flared out like wings for the poanel beaters to hack off!
PS chriss, we need to chase donw peter q and david g to see if they are still interested in the 6.9 meet?!

Did you get polished stainless steel or chrome?  The chrome ones sit out a little bit further, but only at the towards the top of the arch.  I can't remember when I held chrome ones up if they contacted the bumpers.

I squeezed my SS ones in and scratched one doing so.  If you take the bumpers off, you may find that they end up touching the guards anyway depending on how much the bumpers may be bent in a little at the ends.   I used to think my front bumpers were really well aligned until I fitted the spoiler and noticed it's been ever so slightly bent.

With the spoiler on i had to shorten the arches because if they wrapped over the spoiler ends they would've sat further out and definitely touched the bumpers.  I wont be taking the bumper off when I put the chrome ones on.  I'll just be more careful.

The stainless steel ones are a bit more flexible but you'll just have to make sure you press them into the arch as hard as you can whilst you fit them.

Thanks for the hint on the quarter panels Nathan.  It'll come in handy for the 280se I'm pulling apart

Hey Nathan,

Hell no!! admit nothing.  My thanks was sincere and your post made sense.  I didn't detect an ounce of retardation.

Besides, last night I removed one of those bung plates from the spare wheel well of that 280.  It's glued in too and was harder to pry off than a lid off a crusty paint tin.  So when I take the nuts of the front quarters and wonder why it wont come off, I'll be wary of that glue.  Cheers.

Removing the front wings is well covered in the workshop manual - I think you have to heat the glue to soften it from memory.
