Thanks! I will need to get the chrome bolts and I think I will also replace the center caps. Does anyone know where you can get replacement chrome center caps? My mechanic says I need new sway bars and center link due to some play in them (he says they are inexpensive). I guess I will do that before getting new tires and mounting these.  :)

Pricey, yes - but they are "brand new". I've been watching several other auctions for 15" bundts. One in particular has failed to meet reserve at 860 and later at $1200. I know of a fellow that has (had?) as set of 5 15's that failed to make reserve at $1500+.

Biggest suprise is that they seem to have sold. They've been on eBay for months at that price with no takers (down from I think $2,600 originally).

Myself, I moved a different direction with a set of 16x8 Ronal R9's - they're nearly identical to the AMG "Penta" rims, and completely change the character of the car. (Or at least they will when I get the darn thing on the road).

The biggest issue, especially for the 6.9's, is the lack of "decent" rubber in 14". The vast majority of the world has moved to 15, 16 & 17" tires. 14" tires that are still manufactured are frequently of too low a load rating to handle the extra weight of the 6.9 and tend to provide less-than-optimal handling.

In 15" there's a lot more to choose from when looking for a good balance between handling, ride and treadlife. I think it gets even better at 16".

However, I have eyed with great interest the 15" Chrome Bundts offered by LA Tire & Wheel. I've got a set of the OEM-style 8-hole rims (16") on my '92 300SE (W140 chassis), and they look nice. Only complaint is that they've started to pit down in the holes where the brake dust accumulates most heavily. I don't get to wash the car as often as I'd like, but I'm not convinced that the little use these rims have seen (less than 30k miles) that I should be getting pitting due to brake dust accumulation.

I'm going to be painting the car in the next few months, and at that time, I'm probably gonna take LAT&W up on their 5-year plating warranty and see if they'll budge or blink.

This is what L.A. Wheel and Tire emailed me about their 14" bundt rims.

"The cost to purchase 4 of these already chrome without an exchange is $1187 free shipping in continental USA."

Email them and ask about the 15" I am curious.
