Hello W116 enthusiasts, I've been a long admirer of the series and I'm looking forward to reading more of your posts on the forums here.

I'm also an avid fan of Miami Vice and was watching Season 3, episode 1 entitled "Contempt of Court" where the bad guy has a beautiful black Mercedes sedan.

I can't tell if its a W116 or W126, perhaps you all can help identify it, what wheels it has, whether the front grill is stock or not, etc.

Thanks very much!

i agree with TJ, it is a w126 with a coupe C126 front end bolted on.

I also like the wheels.

It does have some AMG skirts on it aswell, i think the blacked out anodized trim is also an AMG thing.

All in all thats a damn nice looking benz, fiding a w126 in that condition i would imagine to be next to impossible though, may need to be restored yourself  8)

It doesn't make sense to me that they blacken the aluminium trim but then fit bling bling wheels. ::)

W126 AMG with the grille and aluminum hood from the 500/560SEC. The guys who worked on the cars for Miami Vice did some pretty out there builds of custom body kits. I wouldn't be surprised if they built a lot of that kit themselves and put it on a W126 560SEL.
They were making molds of entire cars, then creating body kits to put on stunt cars so that they didn't have to wreck any real rare/expensive stuff.
