Antenna Mounting Position - Rear LHS

I'm searching for a document that details the antenna mounting position for the rear LHS for my 79 450SE, something similar to W113 document (below). I've discovered I have all the antenna pre wiring in boot, but have no antenna hole.

Does anyone know if such a document exists?

No holes at all? My SE had one on the front wing. But when I replaced them they came without one. The workshop manual I have gives the measurements for the front wing but not for the rear. The antennae was moved to the back after my '74 so if you can kind the manual for your '79 it will probably give the rear measurements. Any way I am sure that some one on the forum will give you the right ones.

Mounting position changed to rear in 74-75. Luckily MB prewired the car, so all I need to do is drill the hole.

The following document details the Hirschmann models and part numbers for the relevant years

Well you are lucky. When mine was ordered it was without radio and apparently no antennae. Various owners since have had a number of radios and sound systems with all manner of wiring. Had a real problem when I got the car as the last owner had mounted very large speakers under the rear shelf by cutting holes in it. All repaired now and looks fine but the amount of wiring I took out has yet to be sorted.

It's taken me a while, but I came to the conclusion that car was ordered with a radio delete, my rationale is

- No fader control on shifter wood trim
- No rear LHS antenna hole (Although its prewired, apparently MB prewired with coaxial and electrical from Aug 1974)
- No radio or antenna codes on data card. I've seen a car with the 511 & 531 code

511 from 01.01.1973 to 31.07.1981 BECKER RADIO CASSETTE STEREO MW/USW
531 from 01.01.1963 AUTOMATIC ANTENNA

I kind chap on another forum has given me the following dimensions to locate/drill hole, "It is on the passenger side rear quarter panel and is 265mm from the corner of the boot lid and 40mm in from the edge of the boot lid".

Would be interested if these measurements are in any of the 116 maintenance/service books, guess I could try my local MB club, as they have a library.

The workshop manual I have is much later than my car but only gives info for front mounting. My car also has the delete code and no wiring.

I was trawling through some of my MB bits and found a Becker installation leaflet. It's too large to post, so I just made a screen shot of the relevant section.

But which is correct; 35mm from the trunk, or 45mm? That's about enough to drive a person crazy.

My car has the midpoint of the shaft at 35mm from the edge of the trunk.  It seems to be a factory installed Hirschmann unit (and works).  See attached.

LOL, sure does.  Or did.  I washed it right after.  Now it's gleaming.  ;D
All that stuff is desert DUST in the air and swept out by raindrops by a single thunderstorm while sitting in my carport as I worked on it.  I need to keep it garaged and covered.

My car had a pre-delivery, UK dealer installed Hirschmann (long replaced since, too).
Shaft centre is at exactly 2" from side trunk edge, and 7.25" from top trunk edge.
So, as random as they could get it albeit it's in a perfect spot internally and out of the way.
