A bit of housekeeping

I purchased a pair of rear tyres for the 6.9 (Maxxis MA-P1). I've used these tyres for a while and have been impressed with their performance/price. The are $100AUD each from Bob Jane and are a reasonably soft compound. They also allow a nice, quiet and smooth ride.

The main reason for this purchase was so that the 450 can get its wheels back.

Also, I decided that it was time to apply some paint to the replacement boot lid. It was Astral silver minus a clear coat. It really did look repulsive. The paint is just Royal Blue out of an Aerosol (Automotive touchup - Holts), though I spent a bit of time rubbing back the surface and applying etch primer. It needs to last through the winter, as the car cops a bit of spray from the horizontal rain. Some surface rust was already forming.

I think you need some tweaking with the colour matching  8)

s class

I think the colour matches a lot better than astral silver....

What size are the tyres, TJ?

'76 6.9 Euro, '78 6.9 AMG, '80 280SE, '74 350SE, '82 500SEL euro full hydro, '83 500SEL euro full hydro , '81 500SL

TJ 450

It certainly does look better than the Astral Silver. It's really just a temporary preservation measure. It's the metal underneath that matters. 8)

The tyres are 205 70 R14... so, not really the correct size for a 6.9.

are they the ones that light up very easily when i used to test drive your car around my "secret test track" ?

They certainly were a lot of fun with unrestricted double wheel spin on any surface as long as you liked (or as long as timmy tolerated) ;)

TJ 450

Nah, those are the ones that these have replaced. It's still possible to light these new ones up though. 8)

those tyres still had most of their tread the last time i saw them, what happend to it all ?  ::)

TJ 450

They still had plenty of tread on them. It's just that I borrowed them from the 450, to which they have now been returned.

I was just wondering what in the heck is the "hoon law"? As I'm in Canada I'm not familiar with the term hoon but I've seen it used in several post by you Aussies.

I wondered the same thing and so I googled it:

Hooning is to drive in a socially unacceptable or juvenille manner. Ie doughnuts, tire spinning ect.

Aussies, did I get it right?

Hoons drive with enthusiasm, hard acceleration, hard breaking, wheelies etc.

Hoon machines are what hoons drive, usually GM Commodores

Hoon laws are laws that target hoons, "intentionally loosing traction" is one offence here in Vic.

Big or car confiscation, the police and poliies boasting of the ever increasing number of vehicles being seized, see, it must be working.  Seems nobody mentionted to them that having a car confiscated for 48 hours is now like a hoon merit badge.

No crushing here yet, does any AUS state seize and crush?

Boogity, Boogity, Boogity, Amen!

in WA confiscation of vehicle also applys for driving without a licence and dui.

the problem is, these types of people usually drive worthless peices of crap and then when the time comes around to collect them no one ever does. The storage fee's end up comming out of the police budget if the offenders dont pay up..

Thanks guys, that answers my question. Here we don't have a cool name for it we just call it stunting.
