75 450 SL Tail lights fit in a 75 450 SEL ?

Will this work? cause something has to be done I got pulled over yesterday because the left breaklight is out so I wanna replace both, to get it over with and there is a guy parting out a 450 SL

They look almost identical and I used to think they would fit until I noticed that the outside ends of the ones of the SL were squared rather than triangular like the W116.

the lenses are easily available on ebay, the electrical side wont be that common if thats where the problem is.

I had a whole bunch of the black plastic housings that hold the bulbs but they were being stored in my 230S and the sun warped them all. :'(

i recommend you take a non flash photo of the rear of your car with the head lights on and some one also pressing the brake pedal.

soon enough we will tell you if what we see is acceptable or a fail.

if the brake globes are lighting dimly and they are the correct size, wattage and are new then theres is an electrical fault, the globe holders in my opinion are either going to work or not work, not half way in between.

Well the actual connector on the circuit board I came to find broke off so there is nothing connecting to the break bulb at all... as that's why its not getting connection, but I will photo for you just the same tomorrow after work

Im figuring just to replace them both by way of finding a salvage yard and specifying what I need cause ive found round here they can be sneaky...
