Hello, can anyone recommend to me, a good material to remake the broken down cardboard that is my rear parcel shelf.. and about how thick would you guys say the original material is? Thank you as always for any suggestions
Just did my my own recently.
Used 2mm timber ply then glued the new carpet to it.
Turned out well and not too thick so as to upset the fitting of it.
Thank you for your suggestion. I will look into that
check out a picture of my finished product in the section I posted recently
Removing rear parcel shelf and trim, How to?
As always once the forum helped me work it out, it was simple as.
I used 3mm MDF, also 3mm Masonite / hardboard will do. IIRC the original material was 3mm thick.

+1 vote for 3mm MDF
Baltic birch plywood would be a great material for this. You can get at a real lumber/woodworking store. Also upholstery shops sell "black" board which is durable treated cardboard used to make door panels.
Thank all you guys for the suggestions, now i have some options when i go hardware store :)
