75 280S Rear Parcel shelf rebuild

Hello, can anyone recommend to me, a good material to remake the broken down cardboard that is my rear parcel shelf.. and about how thick would you guys say the original material is? Thank you as always for any suggestions

Just did my my own recently.
Used 2mm timber ply then glued the new carpet to it.
Turned out well and not too thick so as to upset the fitting of it.

TJ 450

I used 3mm MDF, also 3mm Masonite / hardboard will do. IIRC the original material was 3mm thick.

Baltic birch plywood would be a great material for this. You can get at a real lumber/woodworking store. Also upholstery shops sell "black" board which is durable treated cardboard used to make door panels.
