How do the strips on the dash come off? Are there fasteners behind or are they held only with adhesive?

small retaining bolts with the nuts (6mm)? on the inside of the metal dash, they are difficult to get at and  you have removed the under dash panels etc.

I think the plastic nuts holding on the wood are 9mm. You'll probably have to remove the instrument panel, heater panel, and glove box door to access them, all of which need careful removal to avoid damage.
