The time has come to complete the inevitable task of restoring this part of the interior.

Thus far, I have removed everything, and the original set of zebrano is currently being redone.

I have removed the HVAC unit, and I found during this process that the heater core was leaking. Yet another item to repair.

This is what it looks like now;

Hi Tim,
I have had cars in the same state as this but they were being stripped for parts.
The thought of having to put it all back in the right order is a bit scary.
I'm sure you are the man for the job.

To me it's not nearly as bad as it seems, although I have done it before, and it was rather daunting the first time. The main concern I have is where to stop... I'm thinking I'll need to have the minor firewall rust repaired professionally before fitting everything, along with getting the A/C functioning and replacing the sound deadening with modern materials.

Haha, I drove around a W116 for several months with the interior looking as in the first picture. Someone took the opportunity to steal my cassette deck during that time.
