Title: 450SE - Cluster Query
Post by: ngruzevs on 15 May 2018, 09:05 PM
I've just recently purchased a UK delivered 79 450SE. Viewing the cluster the speedometer has been changed at some point from MPH to KM. Viewing my cluster, is it the correct speedometer for 4.5 V8?

Additionally if I was to replace clock with tachometer, which tachometer do I need to source (whats the redline for 450SE V8)?

This speedometer is for a 280 (three small lines at 145 km/h).

The 450 4.5 have a speedometer with 1 orange small line at 95 km/h (maximum speed in first gear) and 2 orange small lines at 155 km/h (maximum speed in second gear).

The redline on tachometer for a 450 4,5 is at 5.800 rev/min.

Thanks for the confirmation.

I'll try and source correct speedometer and tachometer (or cluster)

It looks like I need part number 1075421701, but there doesn't appear to be too many listed on eBay.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mercedes-Benz-W107-Speedometer-1075421701/162934945278?epid=1534198460&hash=item25efadf5fe:g:5LgAAOSwXJFaoJ0G

Will cluster for W107 fit, e.g. https://www.oldtimer-yemodia.de/home/1075421701-kombiinstrument-tacho-mit-drehzahlmesser-und-uhr-bis-240-kmh.html

With the 107 ones, it depends on year as they went electronic in latter years. The proper 450 one should be fairly easy to get you'd think, I'd keep an eye on eBay.
