280SE seatbelt
« on: 08 October 2010, 03:39 PM »
CHasing up a new or used driver's side seatbelt. The wrecker here informs me that you can't replace the plug bit (what i'd call the male part of the mechanism which hangs on the sash) without replacing the whole seatbelt as the plug bit doesn't simply slide off.
Mine is off but that's because it's broken (the upper plastic part has snapped off so it dangles loosely and drops to the floor when the belt is undone).
Can anyone confirm this?
Secondly, where would i best buy this part? The nearest parts recycler here is about an hour drive, he has a couple of other model Mercs from the same vintage (not w116) and isn't sure that the seatbelt part is interchangeable. If it's the same he's after $66.

Getting near roadworthy condition now.....
Thoughts?

Did a search and it appears there are a number of different types of this item.... I managed to stuff up a pic upload last time... maybe this time!

It works!!! The resident artist drew the broken part.
