2" Firewall Rust Behind Fuse Box, 1979 300SD

I actually was able to clear the drain from my pooling trunk (gas compartment side) myself after Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene last night thanks to the answers on W116.org! Should there be a plastic straw for this drain hole?

The driver side rear floor presented a more difficult prospect for draining however. I saw one thickish hose in the front door jamb, and this didn't seem to be clogged. I have three very small rust spots on the painted panel under the closed door on this side. Perhaps this is all related to the same source, that is, the crack in the metal behind the fuse box?

How much should a good body shop charge to weld if the 2" is just that and not any more than that?

The cost will involve protecting the fuse box & allied wires from welding flames. Either a very expert guy could weld it without removing the wiring. Else u will need to hire an auto electrician to remove the wires and after the mending put them back. Send me pics of the area you need to get repaired on e-mail
