Title: 1975 280SE Colour
Post by: NM on 15 October 2012, 07:12 AM
I have a 280SE painted dark red with what looks like a gold fleck through it. I'm having the car restored and would like the original paint colour to be used for the repaint. Can anyone help.
Thanks,
NM.

Hi NM, you can find the original paint code on the radiator option plate, do a search on here and you should find some pics of one, it has several rows of numbers and letters, the paint code will be a 3 digit

number with either a H or a G after it. You can find the colour chart on here as well.

Check your data plate, at the front of the car, under the bonnet, just in front of the radiator. You can't miss it.

In the example above (with thanks to Type17), the paint code is the bit that says "861H". Whatever yours says there is your paint code. It might end in an H or a G. Cross reference it here: http://www.w116.org/library/colors

Just out of curiosity, what was the original colour code?
