15 inch bundts fitted to the 6.9

hi all,
after delivery of my 15s from the classic centre, i decided on michelin primacy LC tires (225/60 VR15) for the car. this i think is the closest fit to the 215/70VR14 originals.
i took the alloys and tires to the centre today and had them swap out my michelin XWXs which had been on for over a decade and were a bit bald in areas.  they fit them for me and i got suckered into the nitrogen filling!
the alloys look pretty nice and although only one inch larger in diameter, i think it makes a noticeable difference to the appearance of the car (the tires no longer look like large balloons).
i only had a brief drive home and to be honest, didnt notice a significant difference over my old michelins. regardless, at least now ill be able to stop in a hurry without a hail of smoke from my previous tires!
attached are some pics, including a comparison with the w123 which has 14s on it in a similar size.
regards
nathan

The w123/6.9 comparison shot was the first to download for me and for a while there it looked like you fitted used whitewalls  :-\ then after a few more shots appeared I realised it was just the reflection on the walls of shiny new tyres.  :D

They look fantastic Nathan.  Like you say, only 1" difference but gee they seem to fill out the arches more.   With new tyres, perfect rims and what looks like perfect centre caps, where's the new bolts??

Yep, they look bloody good, I must say and the tyres look like a good match width wise. ;)

I do reckon you need a set of nice new bolts, too. I suppose they don't look rusty to give them some credit. ;)

I just realised something

the guys that fitted my tires last time were morons - I have the balancing weights on the OUTSIDE where they are visible, I didn't know they could go on the inside  out of view  ::)

Nice wheels, does this mean you might actually drive the car more than once every 2 years now ?  8)

nathan

drive my car more than every 2 years, what are you talking about? i drove it to the tyre centre, all 5 kms away.
i thoght about new bolts or painting the old ones, i forgot about it after i bought the new centre caps on.

im not sure if they always do it, maybe it was just because i was watching like a crazy person, but they put the weights on the inside and even used a torque wrench for final tightening of the bolts!

Nathan, I'm very impressed that they used a torque wrench... it is absolutely critical IMHO, yet so many tyre shops don't even bother.
