Rear window molding clips or catches Canadian prices!

Hello I just wanted to share my experience with Mercedes Canada on these replacement parts for the rear window or windscreen restoration.   These are the replacements "clips" or "catches" for holding the molding (thanks to previous posters for these numbers)

I haven't decided what to do, both options seem kinda bonkers, very strange pricing.  Does anyone have any better ideas?

What you can try is to buy from the Classic Centre in Irvine, CA.  Problem is they only ship FedEx overnight which really bites, but they do not seem to be willing/able to ship any other way to Canada.

Pelican Parts is good as you can choose USPS but they tend to take forever to ship.

One trick I can share is if you buy from the US, get the seller to use "HS CODE 9966.00.00" on the shipping docs. This is the Customs Code for duty free import into Canada.  Any cars/parts for cars over 25 years come in duty free.  Let them also state description as "Classic Car Spares".

Those 3 parts are $42.50 at mboemparts.com.

If you want I can get them and forward to you in CA from COLO. I've done the same for daantje a few times already.

Thanks daantjie and rumb, that is good info!

Let me check both those businesses/websites and see how it looks.
Very generous offer on the forwarding to Canada.  Let me get back to you on that after I have a look.

I was also trying to find a good UK or German based vintage Mercedes supplier, its actually easier/cheaper to ship from Europe than the US in many cases.

The previous owner had used Urethane to stop a leak so I am not sure I could have saved the clips, but next time I will be more careful.

Update:

I ordered from the MB Classic Center in California as per daantjie.  https://www.mbusa.com/en/classic-center/genuine-parts

$45 parts and $45 Fedex Express shipping to Canada.  That seems a fair price for fast shipping, half the price of Pelican Parts.

thanks again for the help.

Hi Lucas,  I notice that you're doing this job without removing all the interior trim.  I didn't know that was possible, but that's great if it is.  Does the rear window use the same installation technique (pulling the rope around the seal) as the front?  Thanks and cheers,

I actually was just looking for a post with some guidance on removing all the interior trim myself.  I think it probably needs to be removed, sorry i am not an expert this is my first attempt too.

The photo was after removal, my rubber seal was very rotten so I mostly cut it away and removed the glass.  I suspect the harder part is getting the new seal and glass back in.
