Greasing of the door hinges

Hi guys, I got around to doing something for my 6.9 for the first time in a while.  I greased the door hinges!  Our 116s have hinges like 108,109,114,115,123,126s but not 124s on.  They have a grease valve in the centre of each of the two door hinges.  By now, your grease is probably just a dry blob non functional goop.  Under all the crud, there is actually a 1mm ball bearing in the recess to put the new grease in. Free this up with a little degreaser first so new grease can go in.  I used white lithium grease, happy to here of better alternatives that are available.  I only got around to one door tonight but will finish the rest off.  Admittedly, there wasnt much wrong with mine but just thought about it when I saw how dirty they were!  Here is a little video of the chainsaw bar sprocket grease device I bought to use which worked well

Thanks for sharing that.  I found that same blue grease gun and did it too.  It's a nice, easy, feel-good job that we can all enjoy. ;D  I kept pumping in the grease until the old junk was forced out and the blue was coming out of the seams.  Oddly gratifying!  Cheers,

Thanks guys, Amazingly the Oregon grease is easy to get in Canada! I will pick it up.

Nathan, as always thank you so much for your videos, a huge fan and a subscriber.

Cheers Neil!

Of interest those to Raueda and P., what is the blue grease.

The white lithium grease I think I used was for automotive door hinges on the label.  Do you know what the blue grease is?  Admittedly, The blue stuff looks a bit more 'fluid' and less viscous and might flow through a tad easier.  I did however get the white grease coming out pretty easy after I cleaned the gunk off

I dont know what the blue grease is but it comes recommended by Kent Burgsman of mercedessource.com. Very reliable advice on all things 70's to 90's Merc's

I got mine from MercedesSource too.  But later I stumbled on it again someplace and it was cheaper.  Cant remember where though.  :-\

Im not quite sure on the grease, but as said, I think anything is going to be better than what's in there.  Mine had big clumps of dried up grease doing absolutely nothing!  MercedesSource may have some knowledge, but it only seems to be attached to a sale of a 'special tool' or something else which is never elaborated on unless money is exchanged.  I finished off my doors last night and told my 6 year old he can do it again in 20 years!
Just checking a link for what you posted Raueda, looks pretty cheap
