I swear if I've bought yet another wrong part....

Maybe post pics of what you have in hand.  From memory the Bosch cap has shorter posts than the Beru style cap and you need to match the connector on the wire to the one on the cap.

Oh good. I intend to change the Bremi cap for a Bosch one when they are back in stock. The new leads can stay in their box until then.

i think that they gave you an later model distrubitor cap for an W126 280S/SE

This one is for an W126

and the second pic is for an W116

For what is worth - I replaced with NKG with a Bosch Cap and it has been good so far!
