This morning i did an differential oil change , the drain plug came loose the easy way but with some force , but the filler plug was a bit rounded out so after few taps with an chisel this one also came loose , i used kroon classic gear MP 90 to refill the differential , the new filler plug and sealing ring were only a few euro at the dealership so total spent about €25 euro , a cheap DIY job to do if you can resist the terrible smell of the Diffential oil  ;)

Just back from the shop to fix a bad window regulator, leaky vacuum lock, and sticky door latch - all in the same door!

Polish and wax for good measure.

Not today, but two weekends ago I've taken the old lady out the garage and drove over 100km just for the sake of going for a drive. And topped it off with a full tank (after selling both kidneys on the black market...).

Need to start thinking about new tires as well. Half thread left of the amazing Dunlops, but they're getting old after 6+ years. No major deterioration, sidewalls are perfect but the contact patches are starting to show some small crazing in the rubber.

Truth be told, I much prefer driving either of my W124s these days. The refinement over just 9 years separating my 200T and the 450SE is incredible. Goldie isn't seeing much use. I thought about selling her, for about 30 seconds, and then I came to my senses again :)

I don't know the official name but it's for sure a deep green. Thanks!

ptashek, would be interesting if you could elaborate regarding your statement .... "Truth be told, I much prefer driving either of my W124s these days. The refinement over just 9 years separating my 200T and the 450SE is incredible".

Sure :)

Simply put, comfort wise the W124 (the 200T in this case) outclasses my 450SE in every respect. Cabin noise, road feel, seat comfort. The 200T is just as serviceable as the 450SE, but parts supply is much better with thousands still on the road. Where it lacks is torque (140 v 370Nm), power (109 v 222HP) and - maybe - looks. End result? 7.5k miles between the two W124s in 2 years, and less than 700 in the W116.

Not having driven a W124 for some time I would postulate that my 2011 W204 C200CDI drives better.
If logic prevailed none of us would probably run a W116 given the advancement in the driving experience in modern vehicles.  I also now have a 1978 Vauxhall Viva E, rubber floor covering, driver's only sun visor, straps as door pulls.  The other end of the spectrum from the 350SE.  Its all about the sometimes intangiable experience and what the individual gets out of being the owner their particular vehicle.

In practical terms, it's just different patterns of use. When I go across Europe on my own, it's always in the W116. When I need to pop over to the shops, or schlepp the entire gang and half the house on a camping trip, it's in the W124.

As demonstrated by this pic...

As far as the refinement, I think the leap from the 70s cars to the 80s cars was immense.

I've never driven any of the classic English marques, so can't comment, but looking at them it seems by the time the W116 came out, they were still stuck in the 1950s.

Today i have taken out the fuel strainer/tankfilter , last time i had no tool for it so i did a bit of searching on the internet and i found this 46mm oilfilter socket special for Mercedes Actros , Atego and Axor Trucks , but it also works perfect for fuel strainers like it's made for it , and it was not expensive by the way i paid €37,- Euro for it , and i also noticed that the old fuel strainer is made of copper/brass and much more solid than the new ones the dealership gives you these days , the strainer looked fine and clean but the o-ring was hardened and brittle
