Hi , I have a w 116 mercedes and the heater is always putting out warm air through the vents.

How can I fix this?

Brown.  I dont think there is a specific name.

You probably will need to get some custom dye.  Letherique can match from a swath.


Are you repairing cracks? if so how?

I have a W114 (1974 280) which I planned to engine swap. I took out the engine, and measured the engine bay width at 25.5 inches. I wanted to put in a M113 v8 but that engine is about 26" wide. The narrowest M116/117 v8 is the 380se engine at 26" wide. The 6.9 engine is about 28" wide. So to use any Mercedes v8 you need to cut metal.

I just bought a W116 1979 300SD after owning around 25 W126 300SDs!

When moving the cruise lever up, the car will accelerate, but will not "hold". Is this the cruise amplifier?

Any insight appreciated! I am trying to "learn" the W116 chassis!

I just purchased a 79 300SD. The interior is "bambo". The dash is a dark brown. Would anyone know the official MB color for the dash? I want to order the correct dye.

Did you go in through the fuel gauge sensor hole on the top of the tank?  My recollection is that the opening is a couple inches wide (though my memory isn't what it used to be). Anyway, I'd think that you'd be able to at least see the tube from the top. Or maybe extend a small mirror on telescoping shaft through the top to look around? Unless of course it's lodged in the filter neck, but then presumably you wouldn't be able to siphon the gas out.
