Yes.  And I believe that's he's in some cooperation with tcj on this forum.  Tcj is in Germany and does all kinds of strut rebuilding as well (replacing bumpers, rubber mounts, new cups, etc etc). Try contacting him on this board.  TCJ did most of the work on my struts and associated parts.  It was superb though not cheap.  This isn't easy work, it involves molding rubber onto heavy metal pieces.  He has lots of other stuff too, including wonderful engine labels and stickers.

If the strut internals are ok then a seal kit, such as what rumb offers, may be enough.  I went one step farther by honing the strut cylinders.  Honing is controversial (as discussed on the M100 board) but I did it on advice of a hydraulic shop.  It's not hard, you just need the right ball home. The end result was beyond what I hoped for.  Car doesn't drop for weeks or more, no leaks, great rider and handling. Good luck and cheers,

My 1978 300SD has a both a right and a left bracket, as did my 1979 300SD.
Perhaps the brackets were only mounted on W116's for export and/or later models.

The left bracket is gone on the critiqued car.
You can see the rusted jagged edges of the broken welds where the left bracket was mounted in the image below.

Shop / FS: Alternator Cable 6.9
Last post by rumb - 22 November 2023, 12:39 PM
Made this cable with all new materials.  1165409709  probably same on other engines.

Check your existing cable out and see if the end wires are hard and brittle.

$75 plus shipping.

Finally ordered 12 meters of brasil velours.  Question for chemists out there. Dye instructions say not to use aluminum vessels. Is that because it will stain the aluminum or is there some potential negative chemical reaction that will disrupt the dye process?

Attached photo of radiator support area with labels placed.

If you want to verify if you cam shaft marks ar correct i would use the method in the workshop manual , you can also look in the online manual on this site : https://handbook.w116.org/cd/Engine/107/M117_45/05-215.pdf , it's for the m117 but the procedure is exatcly the same for the m100 except the timmings off course are different.

Quote from: ramiro on 21 November 2023, 01:30 PMAs a german i was in contact with 2 places , one was 2x as expensive and quiete unfriendly , the other one also owns serveral cars with hpf and usually works on 6.9s , but i also had to send him some of my regulators 3 times because they started leaking after a year , but it wasn't a huge problem he just wanted 50 eur for the parts the 2. time and also warned me that if the internals are really worn they can start leaking again.

I actually suspect that my rear regulator didn't like the dirts roads that i drove one season.

Do you mind sharing with me the contacts

And the turn around time

And costs

Also how is star motors anyone tried them?

Thanks

U can send me a pvt message or maybe post it here if it's allowed

Thanks
