Last post by Alex - Yesterday at 01:57 AMHi there, was working on the engine bay, and accidentally bumped a vac line which came loose and broke. I'm unsure what this component is and whether it is important or not.
I removed the bolt, with two vac line attachments, and found a Klixon part number. 23VT. It says it's a thermoventil or thermovalve. Is this related to the engine radiator? Or some air conditioning thing?
Anyone know what it is?

I found *a part number for what i believe it is.
0011407160.
I'm not sure if that is correct or not.

Rumb, do you have a copy of the relevant microfiche (0987) or does your copy have those details too?
I have the original DIN survey from 09/1989 and they only reference the microfiche for full 12-digit decoding.

I opted to use the black one I had in stock only to discover it was reskinned in blue and has been painted black!
Words fail me....well at least the words I can use in a forum.!! Holy Toledo Batman. What a $%#%^%^ beast.
Getting the air vents and instrument cluster back in has been torture. It would be easier to put the skin back on a rabbit.
The remoulding was a good job but everything just does not quite fit by half a MM. The dash has been in storage for years and has got a bit distorted and hardened around the edges. It has taken 2 hours to fit one vent.
Heat gun.....knife edge letter opener..box cutter..sanding paper.........eek!
OMG!! .if only it was a new dash......everything would have just glided in.
And this is just reassmbling the dash on a padded bench in broad daylight.!!....I can hardly wait to fit the dash.....and then connect everything up in order..NOT!!!

Last post by Randys01 - 07 October 2024, 05:08 PMI don't think "it's a bit sticky" cuts it. The piston should glide up and down like silk....from 'go to who'.
It is almost a tactile sensation,....reeks of precision engineering.
This thing only has to stick 2 mmm from zero set position for the engine in neutral to roar its head off.
CIS is one of the most difficult systems to diagnose and describe in a chat show but until you can report that the piston runs ever so smoothly in its bore the rest is guess work.
