Hi all,
my brother told me of mate moving interstate needing to offload his non starting 126.  i told the guy id give him a small amount and a deal was done car unseen.
as i flew back home last night, i went with dad and the mechanic today to pick it up. it was in a tight underground carpark so we used a device the mechanic had which ran from his towbar of his 4wd to the recovery point of the 126 - basically a very long tyre lever which pulled the non running 126 back to our place 5 kms away. it involved me sitting in a non powered vehicle with no electrics turning when he did and being towed about 2m behind his 4wd, slightly unnerving!!!
anyhow, the engine is likely cactus as the oil is chocolate milk, oel and water by the look of it.  bodywork is reasonable, some might like the 17 inch AMGs, and a brand new continental spare in the boot! the itnerior has blue velour seats which are very nice condition.  i always hated that velour but it seems to appeal to some.  the steering wheel is very nice which is good as this is what came with our w460 gwagen.  anyhow, attached are some pics of a likely parts car.

Haha,

Nice one. I was wondering if you may have been preoccupied with mother's day activities yesterday, LOL. I certainly was.

Is that 904? Yes, the rims look like they would fit my 560 quite nicely. 8)

BTW, blown head gaskets are not uncommon with this and the M102.

Hi,

Nathan, do you think the car really has only 128,000 K's ?

I'm starting to think it might not be that hard to change a head gasket.

Indeed, changing the head gasket is quite straightforward. Like my 190E, it really depends on how long it has been how it is. The likelyhood of water entering the rear cylinder(s) is quite high.

The head may be rotten etc, etc.

However, there's only one way to find out. ;)

By the way, is it a Japanese import?

Nah, unfortunately I can't take on another project. The 300 doesn't excite me much anyhow, although I'm sure it would be a pleasant drive.

I have a 560 to work on.  8)

Now now motec. The only thing a chev engine is god for is a chev or a holden. There shall be no abominations in our house. Im back in melbourne now. Tj, u can check it out on the weekend with mt and take off the head if u want! Dad has the tools
John, im alwsys VERY skeptical of asian import kms, but the steering wheel is like new and seats very hood
Doesnt matter anyjow as the engine seems shot, although does turnover. We will let yj mske a call on its state

The turbo V12 in a 126 would be utter insanity! It would be quite impressive though.

Hi TJ i cant see why it could not be done as the M120 has allready been fitted to a W126 chassis  so the smaller new motor should be doable.  Anyway you have the runs on the board Nathan with your G Wagon. Geoff ;D
