Hi folks,

I have been offered a late series w124 320ce coupe with 150k.  Looks fantastic, but I don't know this series.  Also unclear about Aussie valuation.  Any wise counsel??

Hi Peter,

The 124 series is a great model, having owned 3 of them in the last decade,  the 320 was the last and I believe the best of the series,
The coupe is a solid well balanced auto with good looks and will hold it value if well maintained.
The 300CE version ( 2valve ) was sluggish off the mark but really took off above 3000rpm
the 320CE ( 4 valve) addressed the problem by having improved low speed torque,

I think you would be very happy with a 320CE as an ever day driver or weekend classic drive.

Cheers

Robert

Unfortunately from what I hear the prices of 24V parts can be very prohibitive.  I've had the opportunity to buy one, however after working on them all I can say is quite reliable, but also rather ho hum.  A bit like a Lexus....
