Me and my brother in law just bought a 1980 w123 240D. The car has been sitting the last two years and the previous owner just wanted it out of his way. The engine has just rolled 200 000km which is nothing for that engine, and it also has a manuel gearbox. We installed a new battery and it started on the first attempt, and we have had a really rough winter with temperature reaching - 25 centigrade!! The color is apricot orange which is kind of a nasty color

But it grows on you. It also has a red interior. I cant believe how bad taste mankind had in the early eighties, but I guess I will learn to live with it. It has been resprayed some years ago, but the job has been poorly done, so we might do another. There is almost no rust. Underneath it is completely clean, but the standard places have been attacked. The front panels well have to go and we have to do something about the doors. We are only going to use it in summertime so the road salt will not do anymore damage. And the best thing about it is that we only payed less tan 1000 US dollars! A true bargain.

Cant wait to start driving it when the winter is over :)

These cars certainly make you stand out in a crowd.  Better than the white/black/gray options of today.  Have fun with it.

I see what you mean about the color. Enjoy the car!

I do love those hubcaps. I'm always tempted to trade in my bundts for some steel-look aluminum wheels so I can install those. Please tell me they will fit over my bundts. :D
