I know you blokes appreciate looking at the finer things in life (not just W116s), so I thought I'd share this picture of our recent Mercedes-Benz Club get-together in West London. We managed to assemble nine W108/9's an even mix of 6's & 8's

That Paul Bracq sure knew how to design a nice-looking automobile. Sigh. I miss my W108. :'(

Thanks for sharing. Looks nice very nice weather for it.

Hi Phil

Looks like you had a great meeting.  Is that in Richmond Park, and when did you meet?  Were there any 250's and 6.3's?  Perhaps some day we could do a joint W108/9 and W116 meet.

At the moment my car is off the road thanks to MB-UK.  I've been waiting for my middle box of the exhaust that I bought from them on the 31 of May to arrive from Germany.  MB-UK have washed their hands of the situation.  Makes me wish I had gone for a stainless system, but as I went factory original for the rear box, its too late to change tac now. :-[

We should at least try to get a regular group of London based S-Class enthusiasts getting together.  I find the MB club meetings designed for those who are retired: the meetings always seem to be in the middle of the week!

Thanks for sharing the photo,

Gavin

We've all been waiting for you to organise another meeting Gavin...

Actually the meetings organised by the London Region of the MB Club are generally at weekends because all the Regional Officers are still working. The Syon Park Meet was last Sunday -  and it was very local for you :)

Sorry to hear your car's been off the road - so what is the status of this exhaust box exactly? I'd have been raising hell by now if they'd kept me waiting that long. Where did you order the part?

I've recently taken on the role as 'Model Register Captain' for the W108/9s in the Club, so I was very pleased with the turn out -  and to answer your question - yes we had a good mixture: 250, 280SE, 280SE 3.5, and 6.3's all represented.

I am planning to organise a W108 event next year - and I hope to make it a joint event with the W116 register...

It's in the grounds of Syon House the Duke of Northumberland's London residence (I kid you not)

It's actually under the flight-path to Heathrow Airport (so not as rural as it looks)

3 Miles away from where I grew up (near Gunnersbury park which is where I thought the event was held).
Nice to see so many w108's knocking around London.
