The 560 is now running again...

This may be of interest to anyone who was following my progress on the full hydro ECE 560SEL;
Unfortunately, posting images has become something of a PITA on this forum...

... I will upload a new video when the ECU is installed on the weekend.

Anyhow, here it is at its first start with reconditioned cylinder heads fitted and a host of other improvements. Still no exhaust though!

Cool stuff.

BTW, I've just acquired a 1981? 500SEL with full hydro, seat heaters, reclining rear seat etc etc.  Its a basket case with the engine in pieces.

Don't know.  It was disassembled about 20 years ago and left in the weather.

Right, well I can't imagine that being very serviceable now. Being an early 500 though, at least there's a fair chance of sourcing a decent replacement engine.

Not really.  The pre-facelift 500's were never officially imported into this country.  They do exist, but are not exactly common.
