..... and the flying 108.  I'd like to know how many 108's were injured or mamed during the making of this film.  I read somewhere that it was a 6.3 but to me the car looks like a SWB. Anyway, Chev Stingray v's what I reckon is a w108 6.

Hi Des,
After finding some rally 450slc video last week I found Speedtrap whilst searching for some AMG 6.3 vids.  Not of the restored one/s but of the originals racing.  Nigh impossible.  Something I did find which you would've probably seen before was a slideshow on the cars.  Just in case you haven't, go to http://www.mercedes-amg.com/index2.html and click on "heritage" then "visit the heritage museum" then "begin tour" then "1971" then "view slideshow". Lots of photos I haven't seen before.  But an elusive grab of free to the public AMG 6.3 video remains a no go.

As for Speedtrap, if the first jump was like WOW! how about that second spiderman leap :D And of course, the merc wins in the end, apparently unscathed 8)

Hey Oscar, did you see in the AMG Heritage time line, they packed a M117 into a gullwing? Part of me wants thinks WHOA!, part of me wonders where is it? why are there not alot of info?

Yeah but I was confused if it had a M117 or a d-jet engine.  I suppose it would be the (450) engine and it will be a mission and a half to find out more, especially to find where is it now.  It's not a bad idea for a regular thread - set a hard task and have anyone and everyone scour the net for the answer, the photo, information.

Des,
Thanks mate, that's the first bit of footage I've seen of one in action. Shame about the music overlay but it was great to watch.

Oscar, semi releated issue, but did you know you can actually keep videos for youtube and the other, various sites?

you can download them and keep them, in case they vanish, which they do from these sites.

www.keepvid.com

you go to the video you want, i.e. the page, copy the url, the address at the top of the screen, paste it into keepvid and it then gives you a link to download the file.

once you have downloaded it, you rename it to whatever you want with a .flv file extension

then use a media player call VLC, which will play the downloaded files on your computer

works for me quite well.

Hi Des,
Bennie from the Netherlands told me about that site late last year and I use it all the time for youtube.  I love it.  I haven't got an flv player like VLC that you mention, however, Bennie also linked this following free program called "Super" from eright software which converts flv's to just about any vid file imaginable. - mpeg, mov, ipod mov there's too many to mention.  So I use this program mainly to convert to mpeg's to email the movies.   You can also grab audio and convert it to I dunno, so many things.   If you haven't got it or anything like it, I'm sure you'll make use of it, a lot.   ;)

Thanks Oscar, that super program is really good and easy to use.
never heard of it before.

Thanks John.  Absolutley beautiful car and how about that 2nd 6.3.  I'd love to know what the presenter is saying about it.  Actually, i wish I knew what he said thru the whole thing.

I've talked about mounting the side of one of my wrecks on the shed wall as a tribute/trophy.   I think I've now been convinced into repainting it first into an immaginary AMG w116 race car design.   A tribute to a car that never existed but should've.

never heard of it before.

I had to double check to make sure I gave you the right link and it was funny reading the big bold text about the program being free. eg
SUPER © is 100% FREE to download and to use.
Any attempt to sell SUPER © is THEFT.
Violators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Can you imagine Microsoft releasing a similar statement :D  Glad you got it working.  There really is a lot you can do and I haven't begun to scratch the surface.  Like I said, I reckon you'll get more use out if it and understand it more than me.
