As with the outgoing C-Class, all the new right-hand-drive C-Class cars for the world market will be made in East London, South Africa. DaimlerChryslerless SA has also secured a contract to produce C-Classes for the US market - possibly as many as 50 000 cars. Good news!

Makes up for Australia 'stealing' the Ford Focus contract from SA....

But then again, we'd rather build the Benz.

I dont think the Focus building in Australia is official yet, it makes sense though (for Ford at least)

I was under the impression that Aus W204 C Class was comming from Fatherland, I can remember when the Honda Ballade and the C Class went down the same line in East London...

I'm open to correction about the British market - it makes more sense 'cause it's closer to Germany, but the rest of the market is fed from SA

They also build the Focus in Turkey.

It would make sense to source RHD from one plant, saves on tooling costs.
