Should I get this W126?

Hey guys, back for some more help.  I am suffering from severe car withdrawal now that I am here in Oz. pre update no airbag, more basic interior? check the leather under those sheep skins that it isnt shredded.
the 126 is a lovely easy car to drive and i would like one to cruise around in. fair bit easier than our heavy 116s.
there are quite a few around at good prices nowadays so get the one you pic. personally, that colour scheme of the red with the grey skirts doesnt sit too well (compared for later colour matching 126s).

I was worried about what is under those covers (dash as well). I have a w126 at home, which I love and is very easy to work on and very reliable.  How does the price seem if its all in good order?  Will I need to worry about RWC down here?  It seems like you guys run across some problems on occasion.  Thanks for weighing in.

i think the price is a bit high for  preupdate 420 (first year of production). i would have thought around 3.5-4k was more probable. its high km and not pristine (not that theres anything wrong with it!).   how long has last driver had it. the disabled sticker on front window would have me hopefully that didnt belt around in it and abuse it!
buy what you think will make you happy! i bought a 500sel (1988) that i wrecked for the engine. that car went like hell and id love another high compression euro like that.

In short - yes. If not this one, then get another W126. They are fab cars. Very refined.

Hi Ian, glad that you made it to Brisvegas after all. For the 126, I'm with Nathan, get a 500SEL, fabulous engine, there's on on ebay at the moment.

I'm not the social butterfly that MT clearly is, however we will have to catch up at some point. I keep saying that to various people it seems.

Good luck at St Lucia, were you one of the drunken mob rampaging around Toowong there last week all dressed up in scrubs? Gotta love 'O week'

Nice car but to much money ,have a look on ebay there is a hot gunmetal grey with low k's and its a later model for less dollors and is in top condition from what I can tell from the ad  . Would buy it myself but dont want to upset my w116 sel .Its at redcliffe let me know if you want me to take a look at it for you as I am up the road could save you some time just P.M me ...Allan

Thank you all for the kind welcome.  So far so good anyway.  I was indeed one of the drunken mob (less drunk, more mob) wandering around toowong.  The Regatta tends to be the gathering point for med people it seems.  I actually just live up the road in Toowong right on the edge of St. Lucia.  I will have a look at some of the cars you folks have mentioned.  Thanks for the help!  The market is a bit different here, so its hard to tell what a good deal is.  Thanks for the offer to go look at the car Allen.  I may have to take you up on that.  Thanks again guys.  I will have to keep you update.  I would love to meet up and talk cars or whatever.
