Rim specs

Is there any good resource for finding out the correct width/offsets for various types of cars?

I have a friend with a 2000 Chevy Cavalier that wanted me to pick him up a hubcap from the junk yard.  I found them, but they were all scuffed and crappy, plus when I tried to remove them, the clips that secure it to the rim invariably broke.  Later we had a discussion about rims and he'd like to find a set of alloys and just replace the steel rims he has.  I saw a very good condition set of factory alloys on a 1996 Chevy Caprice Classic that he liked, but I have no idea if they would work on his car.

I also know the bolt pattern is 5x100mm on the Cavalier but no idea for the Caprice.

Any insights?

Well according to tirerack.com the bolt pattern is different on the Caprice so that's no good.
