hey everyone, I'm wondering if there is or does anyone use a particular w116 repair/service/workshop "book" kind of like the Bentley and Haynes books???

I know there is the online version provided very kindly by the forum (I'm very thankful for that) but id just like a book I can get into and "tick off' each thing as I go also I just find it safer to have a book handy rather than my laptop when I'm covered in oil.

thanks,
neil.

Hi Neil,

There were Haynes and other manuals available. They might still be in print, but if not I'd keep an eye out on eBay.

What I've done in the past is print out the online documents relevant to the job I'm doing and have that on hand in the garage.

Thanks for the reply, I really got the idea from my girlfriends stepdad, he does it with his classic Porsche's, in a way it's a great way to show the extent of the work come sell time.

The Haynes one for the 107 and the 116 are still around on ebay and covers most things. Although it does not cover the problem of the oil pump when removing the timing cover. I really struggled with that. I would hang out for the Mercedes workshop manuals even though they go for high prices and once you have mastered the index system are every thing you would want. You can get a copy of the online forum manual on CD from Mercedes which gives a good insight but if you are serious go for the MB shop manuals.

Just FYI the shop manuals are a 2 parts set. Worth every penny though if you can find a set.

one book is mechanicals the other interior and body.

Just found out that emanualonline.com have one for the 116 haven't looked to see if it's any good. Their files tend to be a bit big for downloading particularly with our line speed.
