Put in a new order

As my W212 E500 (550 for the US Types)is now 4 1/2 years old and my Late wife's ML320 CDI is now over 6 years old I took a couple of trips to Diesel Motors Perth and on Saturday I traded both of them and have ordered a new ML350 CDI for the incoming "She who must be obeyed" and a new CLS 500 for me.
In case you haven't noticed the E500 is no longer listed in the catalogues - you can get an E400 with a V6 or the very expensive AMG63 which is actually the size of it's fuel tank ((60 and a bit litres vs the E500 80- litre tank) - not much good to us in the wild west.

They have done the opposite with the CLS and have deleted the V6 in both petrol and diesel but for a few months they are still making the CLS 500 with 4.7 litre twin turbo and 80 litre fuel tank - and also they have reduced the price by $50,000 as it appears to be in run out phase and the new one next year will probable no longer have the smaller V8 motor - AMG only.

Delivery in three months and both will have night vision for the kangaroos around our place.

Cheers

Hey Bill! sounds like a fun day shopping! how do you find the CLS compared to the E500? sounds like 3 months of no sleep to me! Be sure to send us pics apon delivery. :)

The CLS sits noticeably lower and is probably a little more powerful but the E500 5.5 is more like the 6.9 characteristic in that it has more innate immediate torque.
You really notice it when you start at the lights or when you go for a gap in the traffic - I prefer the 5.5 to the 4.7 TT but needs must.
In terms of handling it is difficult to compare a 4 1/2 year old car at 80,000 km running 18's with a brand new car running 19's.

I am going to miss my E500 - especially the way it slingshots away from the lights to legal speed without any fuss and immediate bite.

The 4.7 TT seems to need a short period of organsing itself before it delivers.

It'd be great to afford a new car and order one with all the options in your own colour combo! Congats!  Any pix or video??   8)

Kelly has ordered her ML 350  in the basic silver with black interior but it has the split screen front TV as well as rear seat teles for the less fortunate.

My CLS 500 is in Iridium Silver which is a dark gunmetal with a slight bronzy look but I have gone brave/stupid and ordered two tone Black/Almandine interior and added TV because I like to listen to the Channel 7 news when going out to Lodge meetings.

Both will have night vision for the Kangaroos.

In the meantime I have recovered my 2005 BA Falcon back from my son and when I have changed the oil, put in a new starter motor asnd fixed the broken bonnet release I will relinquish my two present M-B's for the next three months or so.

Maybe the 6.9 will see the sunlight more often.

Of interest a new Bosch starter for the falcon is $190 and the bonnet release (Genuine Ford) complete with cable is $45.

Excellent news Bill. They will be great cars, I'm sure.

The latest CLS looks the part, I reckon.
