hey everyone,
im wondering if its possible to find the previous history of my w116 in oz (NSW). I bought it without any documents so had no idea of history or numbers of owners.
I did buy it from a lad in Sydney who said he bought it from Newcastle.
I would love to be able to find the person that first bought the old girl and let them know its still alive and going strong.

thanks neil.

My favorite thing to do when looking at a car is to rifle the glove box for documents. I once was looking at a Alfa GTA on a dealer car lot. It had a new horrible cheap Maaco paint job. In the glove box I found the previous owner reg, looked him up and called him to ask about the paint job and he said it was not on the car when he sold it -the dealer had done it. I ended up buy a different Alfa because the paint was so bad.

More importantly, why did you buy an Alfa :D? Not enough headaches..?

At that time, @1985 I bought a Alfa Sprint Veloce, which to date is still my favorite driving car. perfectly balanced great sports car.  Was also the most expensive per mile car I owned. (technically the 6.9 is since I have only driven it a few hundred miles so far ;) )That darn high preasure clutch pedal would wear me out on 1h15m stop and go  commute home to/from work though.

Irvine,
is it definitely an Aussie car to start?
if so, you often find dealer stamps (yorkstare, lane motors) on the car. in WA, our dealer would put a large sticker in the engine bay!
you could then approach the local dealer. alternative sometimes you can find info from pervious service centres if there is a sticker on a window, A pillar or window?

Thanks for the replies guys, yea it's an Aussie car, I had found an ID card on the back of the seat which was fun. Told me my spec, build date etc.
The only sticker is under the bonnet on the radiator support is a "yorkstar motors Sydney" with a serial #12587.

(Didn't check York star motors for any info)

Thanks,
Neil.
