hi all,
i have a 4 day trip to germany from australia for work.  i had one day off and after arriving yesterday at 7am to find i couldn't check in to my hotel in a small town 200km form stuttgart, decided to go for a drive instead. i rented a small car, and it turned out to be a B class diesel. i drove the 200km on the freeway around 140kmh most times, although 160kmh was about the top comfort level before the trucks intimidated me. amazing economy, 5.8L/100km for the 400km trip.  went to merc museum again, always fun.  they had some young timers for sale in the adjoining dealer, the 107 SLs (see youtube vid) were about 55000 euro!
out the back in their dealer service spot, just a few casual SLS lying around!  was going to go to classic centre again but got addresses mixed up, so went to wrong stuttgart street before mistake realised actually needed to be in fellbach.  they had closed when i arrived sadly.  so went to porsche museum for first time. not that I'm going to buy anything but a merc, but still have respect for these machines.  the driving experience for someone who drives on the Left side wasn't too bad, only a couple of major cockups!  anyhow, attached is a vid of the 1/2 day journey
regards

Nice!

My mother is driving a new B200 (150km on the clock) while the A-Class is in for a "B' service. It's a pretty neat vehicle I have to say.

Nice footage of the Museum(s). 8)

Wow, cool trip. I have to make it a priority to visit the Fatherland.

Hi Nathan!
200km from Stuttgart eh? If that's anywhere towards the Munich / Nuremberg direction feel free to drop in on our workshop / American muscle-car bunker.
If you like Vee motors check out our line of Monte-Carlo, Oldsmobile Cutlass, Pontiac, Thunderbird, Cadillac Northstar... There's some other ridiculous USA FuelToNoiseConverters most based on Chevy bigblocks. With almost 8 Liters capacity and a fuelburn like a military jet, they don't get so far. Mercedes purists are kinda hard done by here: 380SE gangsta car, 420SE waiting for rebuild.. and my immortal W123s of course.
It's dirtier, noisier and much more heavy-duty than the Mercedes Museum by far!  ;D
Greasy Rusty Greetings,
JC

No oil spattered Schaefferhund growler welcome. promise!
