Title: moment of bliss
Post by: floyd111 on 22 April 2020, 05:22 AM
A much lesser known model from the famous Fracassi Trossi that was restored in all it's glory. How cool was this Trossi SSK? I have not been able to find a surviving model.

Could you just imagine motoring around the countryside in one of those? Even if the suspension was not that great it must of been magnificent. The sound of the engine!  I read that most all of the early MB road beasts were only affordable to the very rich.

I've easily spent an hour in the MB museum just admiring the red 540K cabriolet they have on display. It's gorgeous.

They're about 7 million euro, if they ever pop-up for sale. It will be the very first thing I'll buy if I get that sort of cash to spend one day :)

Early MBs were very much a high-earner, upper-class vehicle. The economics of post-WW1 and post-WW2 Germany have done away with it rapidly.

Ah the Adenauer.  The chassis that looks, smells, and feels like a million bucks.  But when you ride in one or drive one you have zero satisfaction, and you think....."this thing drives and rides worse than a Model T."......it's true...they do.

Never know! I sat in one, parked. Seat felt like a million bucks indeed, as did the interior in general
Unbelievable them ain't a presidential ride.

Only the Titanic sits deeper.

A hopefully sound translation of a german saying to very low riding cars of the cheap show-off Kind.

I am from Schaffhausen / Switzerland. In spring this year on a car meeting in Zurich I met a guy with a /8 with an air suspension.
Here in Switzerland original cars in a very good and original condition get the veterans status. It doesn't save you much compared to modern cars but I guess without the vet status you would have even more problems driving them.
Driving cars in Switzerand in general is a real rip.
The /8 will probably not have gotten the vets status since the guy told me that every ca.6 years before the official technical inspection he removes the air suspension and re-installs the original.

You're not wrong, but I'm not a big C123 fan.
If I'd have to drive one, this would be fun for the day, though.

I am not a fan of lowering our cars but this does look very mean! In a good way!
