Whilst looking for some divine inspiration, i turned to some rocky IV last night and had my own dreams shattered.
when rocky goes to russia to fight the ultimate villain, he is picked up in a black 116 (couldnt find a youtube clip)...as it drives off, it appears (with real squinting you can see it) to be a 300SD..that and its US bumpers allerted me to the fact that Rocky never in fact trained in Russia, but was in fact in the states and the whole scene was a farce?!  this is outrageous...coupled with the fact the 108 seen at one point is a 4.5, i was shattered?  was this movie not in fact based on real life happenings and did Rocky never actually go to russia?
i cant believe ive been conned! ;)

It may come as a suprise to you Nathan, that the certainty of Santa existing is in doubt as well. ;D

I would imagine thatRocky IV would go back to the old USSR days - access would have been difficult and it would have all been filmed in a Back lot at Hollywood anyway.

yep I remember the scene, US bumpered 116

Personally think that was the best Rocky movie.

10 seconds of research and I found this:

Production
Wyoming doubled for the frozen expanse of the Soviet Union. The small farm where Rocky lived and trained was located in Jackson Hole, and the Grand Teton National Park was used for filming many of the outdoor sequences in Russia. The PNE Forum at Hastings Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, served as the location of Rocky's Soviet bout. Ironically, the site would later house production of another U.S.-Soviet sports film, Miracle.

Sylvester Stallone has stated that the punching between him and Dolph Lundgren in the first portion of the fight is completely authentic. One particularly forceful punch to Stallone's chest slammed his heart against his breastbone, causing the heart to swell and his breathing to become labored. Stallone, suffering from labored breathing and a blood pressure over 200, was flown from the set in Canada to St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica and was kept in intensive care for eight days.[2]

Additionally, Stallone claims that Lundgren nearly forced Carl Weathers to quit in the middle of filming the Apollo versus Drago exhibition fight. Lungdren tossed Weathers into the corner of the boxing ring, prompting Weathers to leave the ring and announce that he was quitting and calling his agent.

get with the times - I noticed this the first time i watched that movie (this year) :P

I pointed out to my brother - ahhh, that's not in Russia, that w116 has USA bumpers and its a diesel - so it 127% cannot be Russian :P

I don't understand, how could you not have watched Rocky in the 1980's?

The clash of east and west

the titans

The tension........

East wanted to gobble up the west

West wanted to gobble up the east etc..

I was 4 when it was released, If i did see it, i sure don't remember it.

Though, i did see "the shining" when i was 3 or 4 and still remembered parts of it. ;)

Des, after watching #4, i recognised some classic mucis..its the guy (vince de carollo?) who did the tunes for the original cartoon transformers movie...(yes i know, i know - feel free to berate me as you see fit)

as for watching the shining at age 4 PB, that doesnt surprise me at all Mr Batement, not at all... ;)

I was exposed to horror movies from a very young age, hence why I'm completely desensitised to anything of the type now. My self and friends used to sneak into their parents bedroom and watch XXX rated porn at 5 years of age too.

I wasn't all that interested, i was more interested in taking his mothers entire collection of shoes and setting fire to them in the backyard.

Ahhhh, the good old days  ::)

Some say that the USSR collapsed 16 years ago, the NKVD is still very active, I can assure you.

Was there a best of ? I watched this movie a few months ago, and have to say that after sitting through 2 hours of it that it was a complete and utter waste of time. It that was the best of the 4, I am glad I didn't see the other 3.
