Mercedes hate being ignored.

I've developed a great love for the MB product, but I must say that Mercedes despise being left to sit for long periods of time.

No other make, with the possible exception of BMW, is so likely to develop problems during storage.  This is my belief, but I would like other opinions.

PS:  Why does Mercedes seem incapable of making an electric window that functions for 15 years when the windows in my 1966 T-Bird could be used to cut salami?

I would tend to agree, especially on the rust front. At the wreckers you see cars of similar vintage, with not nearly as much body rust.
My theory is that most folks to not realize that a Benz is (or was back then) engineered to a much higher standard than any car on the road.
They also failed to realize then that they had to be MAINTAINED to a higher standard and not to the level of a piece of Detroit junk.

These cars will arguably run forever with some TLC. Problem is that later owners lack the will and /or funds to do so. Thus they are left to fall apart  :'(

I have bought my '79 in July of last year and stored it since October 2013. I have taken it out of storage and drove it about 3 times and the only issue it threw at me is the driver's side window opened fine, but then it refused to close. Cause: there was oxidation on the fuse. Cleaned that mess and up she went.

But I generally agree that cars (not just Mercedes) don't like to sit for long periods of time.
